Harry Redknapp recalls a hilarious story about former Super Eagles and Portsmouth striker Yakubu Ayegbeni almost winning N 9 million (£20,000) bet with him.

The 37-year-old retired Nigerian star who moves to Fratton Park for 4.5m from Maccabi Haifa in 2003, narrowly missed out with an odd goal.

Ex-Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp narrated how he almost splashed out £20,000 (about N9m) on former Super Eagles and Portsmouth striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni after staking a bet as he told Sky Sports transfer center.

Although Aiyegbeni netted four times in the final game of the 2003-04 campaign in Portsmouth 5-0 win over Middlesbrough, his effort was not good enough to claim the bet but Redknapp admitted he forgot placing a bet with Aiyegbeni at the commencement of the Premier League season.
