Nigerian midfielder Frank Onyeka has signed a new five-year deal with Danish club Midtjylland until the end of the 2023-2024 season.

The 21-year-old was linked with a move to France and England back in January, but the Wolves has quickly moved to tie him up to a new deal and scare away potential suitors.

Onyeka speaking on the new deal told the club official website: ''I continue to work hard, and my goal is to become a regular part of the starting line-up in the club. It has been a sensible spring for me, so it is a good starting point for the coming years' work''.

Sports Manager Svend Graversen added: ''We are talking about a player who, over several seasons, has developed very positively in our environment.

''In the longer term, we see him as part of our central midfield, and we know he is a humble person who will work hard to achieve his goals''.

Onyeka joined FC Midtjylland in 2015 from FC Ebedei but the midfielder has scored four goals from 21 Super League games this season.
