Coutinho's move from Liverpool to Barcelona will be the most expensive in English football history. After his medical at 8 am on Monday, Philippe Coutinho will be presented as a Barcelona player in a transfer worth £145million.

In the gallery below is an hour-by-hour inside (picture) story of the Brazilian's £145m record deal to Barcelona from Liverpool.

Coutinho's transfer journey kicked off on Thursday afternoon as he arrived at a restaurant in central London. According to Dailymail, the Brazilian will not be staying in a hotel as a house has already been arranged for him in Spain upon his arrival. The beautiful residence is in the Bellemar neighborhood of Castelldefels, a beach town along the coast from Barcelona, with four miles of sand and set back in the hills overlooking the coast. The player who signed for the house is Luis Suarez.

Coutinho later settled in a private room with his family after being escorted to the restaurant upon arrival.

It was revealed that there was no permission granted from Liverpool for Coutinho to travel so he waited for the call to drive from Central London. This is one of the frustrations of a modern transfer. Liverpool were still keen not to lose the Brazilian but Barcelona's offer proved difficult to reject, despite their best efforts. The English club bought the Brazilian for only £8.5m five years ago but now the figures for this deal will reach a guaranteed £145m.

On Saturday afternoon, Coutinho moved on to Luton Airport where he spent more time phone and awaited his flight.
