Marcus Rashford scored two goals as Manchester United thrashed Norwich City 4-0 at Old Trafford to climb to fifth in the Premier League table.

Harry Maguire returned for Red Devils to face the visiting team after making a quicker-than-expected recovery from a hip injury, while Anthony Martial brought back the starting line by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but Jesse Lingard was missing due to illness.

Norwich, who were without top scorer Teemu Pukki, handed a full Premier League debut to 18-year-old Adam Idah following his FA Cup hat-trick against Preston last week but Josip Drmic was out with a thigh problem.

Manchester United have struggled to break teams down at home this season, but Juan Mata was the architect as Rashford struck in the first half to send Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side into half-time with a one-goal lead.

The Red Devils made their dominance count after the break as Rashford added a second from the penalty spot after Brandon Williams was fouled six minutes into the second half.

Anthony Martial was on the scoresheet two minutes later to wrap up the game as a contest, while Mason Greenwood came off the bench and added another goal to cap a superb day for Solskjaer.

Manchester United move back into fifth place, five points behind Chelsea, while the Canaries remain rooted to the foot of the division, seven points from safety having played a game more than the three teams above them.
