Eunisell’s group managing director, Chika Ikenga, explained that the motive of the award is to promote local football and make it enjoyable for spectators he said: "Football is entertaining, football brings us together in Nigeria. More than anything, football helps people in terms of being fit, it creates a job.

"It provides an opportunity for our young people to stay out of trouble. So we wanted to see how we can get involved, how we can help.

"We chose to reward the people in the front so that they can pull the other people. We would like to see in the next five years that our stadiums are as full as premier league stadiums. We are not going to do it alone, but we will do it with the rest of society.”

NFF General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, added: "It was a special night for me and one that I won’t forget in a hurry. I have never been to or witness such a reception before, more so, one done to honour a local league player in Nigeria’s domestic league,”

"o be honest, I see this kind of event on television when top European players are rewarded.

"I was more than excited when I have presented my N2million cheque and  Eunisell Boot.

The award was instituted by the energy firm last season with former Kano Pillars striker, Junior Lokosa winning the award and a cash prize of N3,800,000 after scoring 19 goals for his side.
