Nigerian star, Alex Iwobi, is a super regular under Arsene Wenger at the Emirates this season but not everyone seems to be impressed by the Frenchman’s trust for the midfielder.
The 20-year-old who had a breakthrough campaign last season with the Gunners has continued from where he stopped but his lack of goals has drawn criticisms from Ralph Ellis of the DailyMail UK.Read Also | Nigerian star visits Jerusalem with family
He wrote: “Arsene Wenger has stubbornly stuck by young midfielder Alex Iwobi this season but at times it’s hard to see why he gets picked ahead of more creative players.
“The 3-1 defeat at Liverpool was the 20-year-old Nigerian midfielder’s 33rd appearance of the season – only Alexis Sanchez (35) and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (34) have figured in more Gunners games.
“Iwobi’s passing was neat at Anfield, but in 90 minutes he didn’t manage a single attempt at goal and played only one ball that set up a chance for a teammate.”
Iwobi has scored three premier league goals in 22 premier league appearances for Arsenal this season, 18 of which are from the start.MORE | Barcelona v PSG | MSN can deliver Champions League miracle
