10 Most capped Super Eagles players of all time

From being nicknamed the Red Devils to the Green Eagles and finally re-dubbed the 'Super Eagles,' the Nigerian national team has featured great players who have left indelible marks in the beautiful game.

There are names that ring a bell whenever they are mentioned in the Nigerian football history and one cannot omit those names when some relevant issues are discussed in football. And you can ask why?

It is so because of the impact they have made so far in the course of their football career and as we said earlier, a player's dream is not complete until he adorns the colors of his country for the umpteenth time.

However, many players have adorned the beautiful Green-White-Green but there are some that have adorned the calm colour more than others. Which proves that their performance in the beautiful game speak volumes and answers the reason why they are always featured in the Super Eagles team.

All that said, we will be looking at the list of all-time Super Eagles players with the most caps. And when we say 'most caps,' it is a metaphorical term for a player's appearance (not including substitute appearances) in a game at international level. A brief history here, 'Cap,' is borrowed from British sport, it dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of association football.

Let's take a view at this wonderful record breaking players:

10. Stephen Keshi - (1981 - 1994) 60 Caps

Stephen Keshi of the blessed memory opens this list with over 60 caps and scoring 9 goals for the Super Eagles. The late Super Eagles coach started his career at the national team from 1981 to 1994. Considered the team's most successful home-grown manager, Keshi gave up the ghost en route to hospital on 7th June 2016 in Benin City after a heart attack at the age of 54.
