37 years after, where are the 1980 AFCON winning stars?

This day 37 years ago, the Green Eagles (as the Super Eagles were called then), lifted the Africa Cup of Nations for the very first time, at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. It was a moment that probably reshaped Nigeria’s modern football history, and turned the once sleeping giants into the giants of African football.

From team captain Christian Chukwu, to Emmanuel Okala to Best Ogedengbe, to Segun Odegbami to Adokiye Amiesimaka, it was a team filled with talents that went on to do the country proud by lifting the AFCON trophy on March 22, 1980.

But where are they now? Where have all these heroes gone to? Fcnaija.com takes a look at the  players who did the nation proud on this day, 37 years ago.
