The Franco-German tactician will also be using his stay in Gabon to 'spy' on Nigeria's World Cup foes, Algeria and Cameroon.
He said: "It is important to monitor them and it is very important to see them directly. Also it is important to see other African teams, especially as the 2019 AFCON will start in March. So it is important to monitor both Cameroon and Algeria but also it is important to see other teams in Gabon.
The Super Eagles will also know their foes for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019) qualifiers when the draws are held Thursday in Libreville, the capital city of Gabon.
The three-time African champions have now failed to qualify for two straight AFCONs – the 2015 and 2017 editions – and the third in four editions, after also missing out on the 2012 edition.
The next AFCON will be hosted by four-time African champions, Cameroon, and the qualifiers will begin on June 5 across the continent.
