Sergio Aguero who could not hide his delight, having become City's all-time record goalscorer has dedicated his historic strike to club's fans and those around him.

Aguero's goal against Napoli on Wednesday saw him surpass Eric Brook's total of 177 goals in all competitions for City and become his club's top scorer with 178.

"I am very happy for this moment. I am happy because the team helped support me with the City fans and the staff.

"Thank you very much for everyone. Now, I am enjoying this moment. I am very happy. This moment is once in a lifetime.

On who owns his matchday shirt, the striker revealed by saying: "This [shirt] is for my son. He text me to say: if I score, to bring the shirt to him! I am happy for my family in Argentina and my friends. Hi everyone!" Aguero told Manchester City's official website

While many believe the manner of the triumph issued a statement of intent to the rest of Europe, Aguero played down such talk, insisting his side must remain grounded.

The 4-2 victory in Naples secured Manchester City's qualification to the knock-out rounds of the Champions League. The Cityzens will look to maintain their unbeaten start to the season as they now shift focus to Sunday's Premier League clash against Arsenal while Napoli will hope to bounce back at Chievo n the same day.
