Akwa Starlets continue fine form as Plateau remain unbeaten

Akwa Starlets continue fine form with a 1-0 win over Warri Wolves in Uyo, while Plateau United remain unbeaten after playing a 0-0 draw with Kano Pillars battled to a 1-1 draw in the star fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday at the New Jos Stadium.

Isaac George scored his fourth goal of the season from the spot in the 75th minute after Aniekan Ekpe won a penalty and it was enough for the home side at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, this being their second of the campaign.

Plateau United maintained their unbeaten run in the Nigeria Professional Football League, while Kano Pillars are still searching for their first win of the campaign.

Delta Force recorded the only away win of the day following a 1-0 victory against Nasarawa United at the Lafia City Stadium with Solomon Enudi netted the winner in the 34th minute.

Elsewhere in Akure, Sunshine Stars secured a slim 1-0 win over Akwa United after a goalless first half, the Owena Whales stepped up their game in the second half to earn their second victory.

Akwa United are still without a win in the league this season which put more pressure former Golden Eaglets coach John Obuh as Uyo based club ranked 16th with four points, while Sunshine Stars’ sixth position with eight points.

Adamawa United were the biggest winners of the matchday six with an emphatic 4-0 hammering of Katsina United after own goal from Samuel Tswanya before Idris Abubakar, Felix Kenan and Sadiq Lawan got on the scored sheet for in Yola.
