Jose Mourinho is reported to have been angry as they were left stranded at the London Heathrow airport following their FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.

Manchester United’s bad week continued when they were left stranded at the London Heathrow airport following Monday’s FA Cup defeat to Chelsea.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 to the Blues and had midfielder Ander Herrera sent off in the first half. And as they sought to return to Manchester immediately after the game to prepare for their Europa League clash with Rostov on Thursday, they discovered that their flight back home was nowhere to be found.

The development left Mourinho seething with rage and is understood to have berated club officials, angry that his squad — who played their 46th game of the season in the FA Cup quarter-final defeat — faced a prolonged journey home.

United had to resort to making the trip back home with their team bus, and they didn’t arrive in Manchester until 4am, reports the Daily Mail.

The squad were in for training at 1pm on Tuesday and will train at the same time on Wednesday to prepare for Rostov. United are now likely to rule out a proposed close-season Far East tour owing to the number of games they have played.
