Nigerian star, Alex Iwobi says Arsenal must avoid last season’s slip in order to challenge favourably for the premier league title next season.

The Gunners had a strong first half of the season but fizzled out at the turn of the year, finishing out the UEFA Champions League qualifying places for the first time in over 16 seasons.

Speaking with Skysport, Iwobi said: “Obviously we had that drought in the middle of last season and we’ve already seen what we needed to improve on.

“We are trying to add some couple of players and do well – hopefully this season we’ll stop the minor setbacks and win as many games as possible.”

Arsenal kicked of their pre-season with a 2-0 win against Sydney FC in Australia and the Super Eagles star dazzled in the match, creating the assists for the Gunners’ record signing  Alexandre Lacazette to open his goals account on his debut since he arrived from Lyon this summer.

“The manager knows that he is going to bring goals to the team. He is going to bring good link up play and he is already enjoying good chemistry here with the lads – I’m sure there a lot to see from him in the season,” Iwobi said.
