Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere fears he will have to leave the North London club in January if he is to play in next summer's World Cup.

Wilshere was not included by Gareth Southgate for his current England squad despite England’s midfield injury problems, after being told he is not getting enough game-time in the Premier League.

The 25-year old was hopeful for a Three Lions recall but, while manager Southgate has made checks on his fitness levels, he has now twice decided not to call him up because he is not starting regularly.

He has worked hard to try to get his place back and secure a future with the Gunners as his current deal expires at the end of this season.

But if there seems no way back for him at the Emirates, a clutch of clubs could look to see if they can tempt him to leave in the January window with the prospect of more games.

West Ham, Swansea and Spanish side Real Betis are all watching developments and could be ready to make a move, given any encouragement.
