Iwobi and Arsenal stars face pay cuts

Champions League By: Ikponmwosa Umweni | 16/03/2017

Arsenal players are facing pay cuts if they fail to finish in the top four in the Premier League.

The Gunners have qualified for the Champions League every season since 1997 but face a battle to do so this time around, as they currently sit fifth in the log with five points behind Liverpool who are in fourth place.

The north London side have two games in hand over the Reds with two months of the league season still to go.

According to the Daily Mail, the players will be forced to accept cuts to their salaries and bonuses as the club looks to make amends for missing out on a slice of the near-£50m reward that comes with reaching the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

It is in stark contrast to London rivals Chelsea, however, who kept their star players' salary the same this season despite missing out on a place in the Champions League and Europa League.

Arsenal were knocked out of this year Champions League with a humiliating 10-2 aggregate defeat to German champions, Bayern Munich.
