Draxler in an interview with Bild has now confirmed that negotiations with prospective buyers have commenced
"I am in talks with a couple of clubs, but so far no decision has been made.
"We will all sit down and make a sensible decision that is suitable for us."
Draxler has long been a target for the Gunners manager, even when he was at Schalke. He left them and made a switch to Wolfsburg in the summer of 2015. Wenger decided against making a move for him and after spending one-and-a-half season, the 23-year-old German has expressed his desire to leave the Volkswagen Arena.
Arsenal are not the only club interested in signing Draxler in January. The Daily Mail reports that Paris Saint-Germain and Italian champions Juventus are interested in Wolfsburg's star who is valued at £30m ($37.4m).
