ATH 0-0 BAR: Stegen saves Barcelona blushes

Barcelona goalkeeper Ter Stegen put up an impressive performance to save the Catalan blushes in the La Liga as they were held 0-0 at the San Mames

Barcelona dominated the opening 10 minutes but Athletic Bilbao looked dangerous in the counter-attack as they made the first attempt of the match.

Markel Susaeta curled shot in the 16th minute almost resulted to a go but Ter Stegen made a brilliant save to keep the score line 0-0.

Barcelona was caught open in the defense as Ter Stegen gifted away the ball as Raul Garcia attempted a scissors kick but the keeper was on point to save the ball.

Lionel Messi's lobe hit the crossbar after the keeper rushed out to make a clearance that fell to the Argentine forward.

Garcia missed another scoring chance after a brilliant tap from the home team, Messi's effort was blocked by the defense.

The first half ended in 0-0 after a lively game from both sides in the first 45 minutes.

The second half saw Barcelona play under intense pressure to break the deadlock as but Bilbao defense look very tight, the away team is throwing all they could to break the defense of the Bibao.

Barcelona moved is been shut down as Bilbao work tirelessly in the bid to hold the La Liga Champions, with 20 minutes left in the match Bilbao had an attacking move but Clement Lenglet fouled Inaki Williams.

Suarez aimed to find the top angle of the post but his effort went wide, Bilbao remained solid defensively and the denied Barcelona clear cut chances.

Ousmane Dembele was thrown in to replace Philippe Coutinho with just 15 minutes left.

Bilbao won a freekick in a dangerous position as Iker Munani delivered a free-kick into the box but it was defended well by the Barcelona defense.
