Atletico Madrid have named their new stadium Wanda Metropolitano and unveiled a new club badge that some fans are comparing to the shield of movie superhero Captain America.
The La Liga giants will move next season from the Vicente Calderon which has been their home for 50 years to the 67,000-seat venue.
The club in a statement on its official website said: The new home of all the Atléticos has now got a name. The Wanda Metropolitano will host our team’s matches with effect from the 2017-18 season." Enrique Cerezo announced the agreement with Wanda Group at the beginning of the event held in the VIP lounge of the Vicente Calderón stadium.
The event also served to present the evolution of the team’s badge for the coming season, product of the club’s collaboration with the communication and design studio Vasava.
After the announcement, the attendees were able to enjoy a spot produced by the advertising agency which once again touched the heart of the red and whites and revealed the new name of our new home.
