Former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel will become the new Paris Saint-Germain manager from next season with Unai Emery set to depart after failing to bring European success to the club, according to reports.
ESPN had earlier reported that Tuchel was well down the wishlist of PSG president Nasser al Khelaifi with Antonio Conte, Massimiliano Allegri, Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique all considered stronger candidates.
The German manager has enjoyed a year on sabbatical following an acrimonious exit from Dortmund last May but will return to the dugout and attempt to bring an elusive Champions League title to the French capital.
The same report claims Tuchel's reputation as a tactical master and the intense style of play he instilled at Borussia Dortmund were winning factors. But his innovation will mean little if he cannot do what his predecessors have failed to: win the Champions League.
Laurent Blanc and Emery were both successful domestically. The former delivered two domestic trebles in his three seasons and Emery looking likely to achieve the feat in this current campaign.
