Barcelona legend Carles Puyol has compared Chelsea ace Eden Hazard with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo but he was quick to give his opinion on the comparison.

Puyol gave his analyses ahead of the Champions League second leg clash with Chelsea. The former Barcelona captain said Hazard has not attained the level of Messi and Ronaldo but still have time to improve.

Barcelona was able to score an away goal against Chelsea in the first leg through Messi to less the task going into the second leg of the clash.

Hazard played as a false number nine as manager Antonio Conte left his two strikers on the bench against Barcelona.

The former Spain international Puyol was asked whether he thought the Belgian forward could reach Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo levels.

"I don't think he's at their level yet," he said. "We are talking about incredible players.

"It's not just one season, they have been at the maximum level for 10 years now.

"For me, Messi is the best player in the world and in history.

"It's impressive what he's doing every year at an exceptionally high level, breaking records, getting better and better in more aspects of his game.

"So to compare him with Messi or Ronaldo is difficult, but Eden Hazard is a fantastic player.

"He's a player who makes the difference and has plenty of time to grow." He told SkySports.

Hazard has been tipped with a move to Real Madrid but the European Champions want to assess the squad before they jump into any deal to bring the Belgian to Spain.
