Barcelona president plans for life after Messi

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu admits planning for life after Lionel Messi is now underway at the Camp Nou.

Messi is not getting younger anymore he is 31 and at that age, it is expected the reflects begin to slow down and a need for proper planning for life after the star is expected.

"I know one day Lionel will say he's retiring," Bartomeu told BBC Sport.

"We have to prepare the club for the future.

"We are bringing great young players to the team because we need to continue this era of success. That's our responsibility.

"My mandate will be finished in two seasons. So I need to leave the club in a great position and tell the new president 'that's our legacy'."

Messi, 31, has scored 581 goals in 664 games for Barcelona.77
