Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi says that Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain is one of the best center-forward in the world and he needs to be in the Argentina squad for next year World Cup in Russia
The Bianconeri striker has been dropped by La Albiceleste new coach Jorge Sampaoli for the last few games in favor of Inter Milan's hitman Mauro Icardi and Boca Juniors' Dario Benedetto in the South American qualifiers.
"As far as I am concerned, Higuain is one of the best number nine in the world. He proves that with Juventus and Real Madrid it’s just not the same thing playing for Argentina,” Barcelona hero Messi told TyC Sports in Argentina.
"Criticism does hurt him and we’ve talked about this many times. I think this period of international duty was good for him, though, as he has been able to focus on training and improving his fitness levels.
"Having said that, he needs to be in the Argentina squad.”
Higuain has nine goals and three assists in 13 Serie A starts for Juventus, who are in third place in the table in Italy, two points behind leaders Inter.
