Manchester City travels to Switzerland to take on Basel at the St- Jakob-Park in the second round of Champions League on Tuesday evening, here are the updates and team news you need to know about the clash.

TEAM NEWS

BASEL:

Defender Luca Zuffi is doubtful for the clash as the Switzerland international struggles with injury and goalkeeper Germano Vailati remains on the sideline too.

MANCHESTER CITY:

Gabriel Jesus is still out due to a knee injury, Benjamin Mendy is also suffering a knee injury and Leroy Sane is down with an ankle injury, David Silva is a doubt after missing Saturday’s game against Leicester City and won’t be available for the trip to Switzerland to face Basel.

HEAD TO HEAD:

Basel and Manchester City have not met before, this will be the first time both sides will meet.  The English side is yet to face a Swiss club either.

This is the third time Basel has made the last 16 of the competition, having qualified for the group stage eight times since 1992. Basel currently sits second in the Swiss Super League.

MANCHESTER CITY:

The Premier League leaders Manchester City come into this match with one eye on the Champions League trophy with their hopes of winning the quadruple still alive - the league, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League. 

The travelling side won their last match against Leicester on Saturday with an emphatic 5-1 victory

Their last six meetings were impressive as the Etihad outfit won five and drew one.
