Bayern Munich and Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has set his sight on returning to action before the end of the current Bundesliga season.
Neuer was initially ruled out until January after suffering a hairline fracture in his foot for the second time in six months back in September.
The goaltender has now provided an update on his progress as he eyes a comeback in the near future.
"Things are going well, but I will have to wait to be in top form and I cannot say when that will be. I would say right now that my body is 80%. On the treadmill, I am going at 5km per hour.
"I am confident of being ready for the second half of the season, I have various targets to achieve with Bayern but the World Cup is my target.
"I think Germany need
me and I would love to be with the national team."
Sweeper-keeper Neuer kept four clean sheets as Germany won their fourth World Cup in Brazil three years ago.
Both Bayern and Die Mannschaft are in fine form, but his return will be warmly welcomed by club and country, nonetheless.
