Robert Lewandowski with two goals to his name helped inspired Bayern Munich to a 3-0 win over Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

Lewandowski was indeed eager to break the deadlock as early as possible and he carved out an opening after 13 minutes, as the Bayern striker collected a cross from James Rodriguez before seeing his cheeky effort saved.

The hosts' pressure eventually paid off in the 31st minute, when the ball fell at the feet of Arturo Vidal, who smashed the ball into the roof of his net, 1-0.

Seven minutes later, the lead was doubled as Vidal turned provider to pick out Robert Lewandowski, who calmly slotted past Marwin Hitz in a one-on-one situation, 2-0.

That proved to be the final bit of goal-mouth action in the half, as Bayern went into the break with a two-goal cushion.

Five minutes into the second half, Bayern bagged a third goal as Lewandowski bagged his second on the day, by turning home Joshua Kimmich's cross, 3-0.

It was one way traffic in the second half, and the hosts nearly bagged a fourth goal in the 73rd minute, as Rodriguez's shot was cleared away by Danso.

With Bayern comfortably leading, Jupp Heynckes introduced the likes of Corentin Tolisso and Sebastian Rudy to see out the remaining stages.

3-0 was how the score remained at the full-time, whistle as Bayern maintain their stranglehold at the top of the table.
