Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman has been ruled out for several weeks out after sustaining an ankle injury during Saturday Bundesliga encounter

The 21-year-old suffered the injury over the weekend in a 0-0 draw with Hertha Berlin at Allianz Arena, but less than 15 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute to Franck Ribery as the France international tangled legs with Hertha Berlin midfielder Matthew Leckie.

According to a report from Bayern Munich’s official website confirming that Coman underwent a successful operation to repair a torn syndesmosis above his left ankle and he set to miss several weeks thanks to his operation his return date is unclear as the injury comes at a dreadful time for both the player and his club. 

Former PSG and Juventus star hopes to be fit to be in contention for the France squad at this summer's World Cup in Russia with such fierce competition for a place in Didier Deschamps team.

He is already competing against the likes of Thomas Lemar, Anthony Martial, Nabil Fekir, Ousmane Dembele and Dmitri Payet for a spot in the front three.

Coman has featured 32 times for Bavarian and scored seven goals so far in all competitions.
