The management of Rivers United FC have sanctioned five players on the books of the club.
The Port Harcourt based outfit in an official statement made available to FCNaija.com through the club's media office, three of the players have been sanctioned over acts of gross indiscipline.
The other two, Aliassou Sanou and Maduabuchi Okereke have since been declared AWOL after absconding from the camp of the club.
Speaking on the development, General Manager of the club, Chief Okey Kpalukwu explained that the move was taken to ensure that discipline reigns supreme in the club.
He further added that fans of the club should remain calm as the management would continued to work assiduously towards keeping the club in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
