Bundesliga giant Schalke is reportedly interested in signing out of favor Real Madrid star Mariano Diaz who is yet to play a single minute under Zinedine Zidane this season.
Diaz was recalled back from Lyon after a successful loan spell with the Ligue one outfit last summer where he made 37 appearances and scored 18 goals for Lyon.

According to the report in Bild, Schalke is keen on signing the 26-year-old striker, they were interested in his services last summer but were short of cash to pull the string. However, now Schalke has the money to sign Mariano and will make a move for him.
Schalke had a good start to the season and the Royal Blue could make the Champions League spot at the end of the season if they maintain a good run of form in their upcoming fixtures.
Mariano will only feature in Cup games at Real Madrid considering the look of things under the second spell of Zidane at the club and a move to Bundesliga might suit the Dominican Republic striker.
