Bundesliga WK 3 Preview: Bayern, Dortmund eye third wins

Top sides Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will be looking to extend their winning run in the league this season to three games as they line out against Hoffenheim and Freiburg respectively.

The two big teams are away from home but they will nonetheless be hoping for maximum points in Saturday's game.

The  Hoffenheim, Bayern duel is at the Rhine-Neckar Arena.

Hoffenheim will want to put down a marker early in the season, especially after their disappointing Champions League exit at the hands of Liverpool.

The confident young coach led Hoffenheim to a superb fourth-place finish in his first full season – that included a 1-0 home win over the reigning champions in April.

Nagelsmann would be more than happy with a repeat of that scoreline, but first he will need to tackle the defensive uncertainty that was on display at Anfield – a task made more difficult by the likely debut of Bayern’s big summer loan signing Colombian forward James Rodriguez, who is fit again following a muscle injury and played for Colombia in their World Cup qualifying draw with Brazil.

The tricks and skills of James will pose a new challenge to Bundesliga defenses already familiar with the threat posed by Robben, Lewandowski, and co.

For the Dortmund game billed for the Schwarzwald-Stadion, it will be interesting to see what team coach Peter Bosz decides to go with after the international break.

The two teams go into the game with contrasting starts to the season. While Dortmund have hit the ground running with two wins in two games, Freiburg are yet to taste victory this season. They come into this game having been thrashed by RB Leipzig in their last game.

Freiburg will face the unenviable task of trying to prevent Borussia Dortmund from scoring this weekend. The hosts will be planning to park the bus and hit the away side on the counter attack.
