Burnley held high flying Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, with Johann Gudmonsson cancelling Danilo's first-half goal for Pep Guardiola's side
Manchester City started the game with a gradual build up with the Cityzens
midfielders and it paid off when Bernardo Silva passed to Danilo curled in a nice shot to the top left corner of the post to give Pep Guardiola’s side the lead in the 2oth minute of the match.
Sergio Aguero almost doubled the lead in the 25th minute but his effort was blocked by a returning defender.
Raheem Sterling attempted a shot but it was directed straight into the Nick Pope’s hand.
Burnley made a beautiful attempt on goal but it was the effort of Ederson that ensured the Clarets didn’t level in the 31st minute.
Burnley almost got in the equalizer in the 37th from a corner kick but the header went wide and in the quick succession Kevin de Bruyne fired a beautiful shot but the Burnley keeper was equal to the task.
Sean Dyche’s men almost levelled up but Ederson was on point to save Manchester City in the 42nd minute.
Aguero lost an opportunity to give City the second goal in the added time of the first 45 minutes but the Pope was fast enough to prevent the Argentine.
The second half saw Manchester City switched to a total offensive game as Aguero beat two Clarets defenders but his attempt was deflected by a defender.
Ilkay Gundogan got a fine pass from De Bruyne and he almost gave City the Second game but his effort was blocked, City got another opportunity again but Sterling fumbled and blasted it over the post.
Danilo made another attempt just like he did in the first half but his effort was parried by Pope in the 56th minute of the match at the Turf Moor.
De Bruyne was presented with a freekick but his effort blocked by the war, City had a nice build up but Burnley defence was solid enough to break the link but City retained the possession for most of first 20 minutes of the second half.
Burnley laboured hard to get an equalizer but their effort was saved by Ederson
and was finally denied by the woodwork in the 68th minute after City goalkeeper parried the ball to the crossbar.
Sterling missed a seater from Walker's cross after he failed to connect with the ball to tap it into an empty net.
Sterling was substituted for Brahimi Diaz in the 73rd minute as first Guardiola’s made his first change after his terrible miss.
Burnley pressurized City midfield and in the 81st minute Johann Berg Gudmundsson grabbed the equalizer for Sean Dyche’s men.
The Clarets ensured they were able to end the game with a point at home as they held the high flying Premier League leaders to a 1-1 draw at the Turf Moor.
