MFM FC defender Jonathan Zikiye has applauded his side's strong display in Mali against AS Real Bamako and has offered his opinion on how the Lagos based outfit can secure qualification to the next round of the ongoing CAF Champions League campaign.

MFM FC secured an away goal advantage in Mali on Sunday after holding Real Bamako to a 1-1 draw at the Omnisports Modibo Keita stadium in the first leg tie.

Zikiye who was a make-shift striker following injuries to MFM forwards in a post-match reaction believes the hard-earned score draw in Mali puts them in a good stead ahead of the second leg.

"We came in when our attackers were injured. However, it is a great feeling for me to know how important I was in the team.

"Real Bamako are no pushovers and are a very good and young side like us. For the return leg, we hope to play for each other and get a good result to qualify.

"It was our first game in the Caf Champions League and it was really tough for us but we are happy with the draw." Zikiye told Goal.

Akinyemi Nojeem broke the deadlock after 15 minutes to put the Nigerian team in front with a great strike but the visitors' lead was shortlived by Miakib Giscard's powerful header to bring Bamako back on level terms.

Next up for the Olukoya Boys is an away trip to Akure where they face Sunshine Stars in a NPFL fixture before the visit of Réal Bamako to the Soccer Temple in Agege, two days later.
