CAF Confed Cup: Rivers United beat KCCA to go second

Rivers United defeated Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) of Uganda 2-1 in Port Harcourt on Tuesday to go second in group A of the ongoing 2017 CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Two first half goals from Bernard Ovoke and Fredrick Obomate ensured Rivers United took firm control of the encounter after 14 minutes. Geoffrey Serunkuma reduced the deficit for the home side on the stroke of half-time.

It was Ovoke's first goal in the competition while Obomate's strike was his first goal of the season.

The result moves Nigeria's remaining representative on the continent to 2nd spot in Group A.

Rivers United who have six points will remain in 2nd position if Club Africain fail to secure maximum points against FUS Rabat later on Tuesday.

Up next for the Boys in Port Harcout on the continent is another home fixture against Club Africain of Tunisia on July 2 while KCCA will host FUS Rabat in Uganda.
