Careless Twitter trends land Omeruo in very "hot soup"

World Cup 2018 By: Uche Duru | 14/05/2018

Nigeria football fans have come for Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo following a careless Twitter trend which was perceived as a publicity stunt just to be in the news.

Omeruo was trending on Twitter this afternoon before the provisional list of the Super Eagles team for the 2018 World Cup was released.

The trends didn't follow the usual method which is normally sparked by a particular activity which results to conversations on the social media platform, rather Omeruo was trending for different topics that are relevant at the time.

So many fans perceived it as a paid trend initiated by the Super Eagles defender who wanted to be in the eyes of the public for the good reasons, from a comparison to Chelsea's Luis Suarez to Q&As down to his age in football.

Check out the Twitter trends below:

Of course, vexed football fans blasted and accused Omeruo of paying social media influencers to make his name trend on the same day the Super Eagles provisional list was released, which to many of them was a shallow move.
