Chelsea and Bayern Munich are set to do battle to land Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez, whose future remains largely in doubt at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Colombian midfielder struggled for playing time this season under Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane who favours a 4-3-3 system which provides no role for a typical Number 10 in the formation set-up.
The ex-Monaco has been inconsistent this season and he has been out of form and shape which made him be in and out of Zidane’s team this season due to poor form.Related: Bayern Munich star wants Barcelona move
He would consider leaving Real Madrid this summer to seek for playing time elsewhere but the report has it that he would like to reunite with Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti who was his former manager during the 2014 season when he was bought.
Real Madrid want
James to sign for PSG, who is also said to be interested in securing the service of the midfielder but he prefers to sign for Bayern Munich and play under his former coach Ancelotti, maybe he can reignite the form he has been struggling for.
James has been linked with a number of suitors especially from the Premier League, the French League and of late Bayern has joined the wagon
to sign the midfielder.
In the Premier League, the Chelsea has been the team pushing very hard to get the player, while Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has informed the hierarchy that he wishes the club break the bank to sign the €80m man from Real Madrid.
Bayern Munich is also ready to sell Renato Sanches this summer, and if the deal could be done the Bavarian could go all out to get James from Real Madrid.
