Chelsea has joined the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic, the Croatia midfielder has struggled to get regular playing time in Madrid.
According to Italian transfer, expert Gianluca di Marzioas per Tribal football reports that Kovacic is on Maurizio Sarri's shortlist of targets amid his exploits for Croatia at the World Cup.
The former Napoli coach is expected to take over from Antonio Conte as the next Chelsea manager.

Chelsea has contacted the European Champions about the possibility of signing the former Inter Milan star before the commencement of the season.
Real Madrid new boss Julen Lopetegui has also revealed that Dani Ceballos is in his plan for the next season which means that Kovacic might be surplus to requirement at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old may fancy a move to the Premier League given his recent comments regarding a Bernabeu exit.
"I believe the best thing for me would be to go to another club where I'd have the opportunity to play regularly as a starter," said Kovacic.
"I think I can have this opportunity and it's one I want right now."
Manchester United is also eyeing the Croatia midfielder.
