Chelsea legend Drogba announces his retirement

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed his retirement from active football at the end of the season with US side Phoenix Rising set to miss their legendary striker.

The 40-year old striker and former Ivory Coast international has been plying his trade in US since 2015 after a second stint at Stamford Bridge.

Drogba in an interview with Telefoot confirmed he will hang up his boots at the end of the campaign.

"It's really a pleasure for me to play.

"I started late at the top level. I really enjoy playing. I like my role of owner-player a lot.

"I'm surrounded by a lot of youngsters, and I like passing my know-how on to them. But this season is the last. I'm 40, it's time now." said the Blues' legend
