Chelsea to offer star new deal after strong start

Chelsea ready to offer David Luiz new contract to remain in Stamford Bridge after a strong start to the season under Maurizio Sarri.

The 32-year-old defender has endured a mixed time in his second spell West London from Paris Saint-Germain but Brazil international has forced his way back to the starting line-up under former Napoli coach after been frozen out last season by former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

Luiz current contract expires in June 2019 but he has made an excellent start to this season, playing every minute of Premier League football so far and forming a solid partnership with Antonio Rudiger.

According to the London Evening Standard reports that that dethroned Premier League Champions hierarchy being prepared to offer a new deal to ex-Benfica man, with the player having less than a year remaining on his existing terms.

Luiz marked his 50th Premier League appearance of his second spell at Chelsea on Saturday in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool. He has made over 200 appearances in total across his two stints at the club.
