Mata in the mood

Jose Mourinho’s first two months in-charge at Manchester United saw him face former, Chelsea and hammered 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in a premier league fixture but tonight he is preparing to face the Blues for the second time this season with Juan Mata his biggest weapon.

The Portuguese managed Mata at Chelsea during his second spell at the club but it didn’t go very well as he sold the Spaniard to United for £37.1m in January 2014 despite being the Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons.

Coincidentally, Mourinho and Mata reunited at Old Trafford and today will be in the same ship as they try to knock Chelsea out of the FA Cup in a bid to retain their title which they won under former manager Loius van Gaal last season.

Here are Juan Mata’s stats for both Chelsea and Manchester United:

Stats on Juan Mata

Mata will be so important for the Red Devils for this evening’s clash as Mourinho will be without the services of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Wayne Rooney, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is currently serving a three-match ban.

The quartet is responsible for 45 of United’s 80goals this season but Mata is the second highest goalscorer after Ibrahimovic and will be vital for United if they are to make the semifinal of the FA Cup.

Chelsea are overwhelming favourites to win this tie but if Mata is allowed room to orchestrating the game from the midfield, Chelsea could be in serious trouble.
