Chelsea vs Sheffield Wednesday: Higuain set for first test

Chelsea new signing Gonzalo Higuain is set for his first test for the Blues as he prepares to play against Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday at the Stamford Bridge in FA Cup.

TEAM NEWS:

CHELSEA:

Chelsea will be without injured Ruben Loftus-Cheek who is experiencing a back problem and new signing Gonzalo Higuain is expected to be in the line up for the clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY:

The Owls will miss the service of defender Matt Penney due to a shoulder injury while Fernando Forestieri is doubtful for the clash against Chelsea on Sunday at the Stamford Bridge.

Gary Hooper, Josh Onomah, Kieran Lee and Michael Hector are all out of the clash due to injury.

HEAD TO HEAD:

Both teams have played on 88 occasions and Chelsea has 24 wins and 31 draws while Sheffield Wednesday has a record of 33 wins.

The last meeting was in favour of Sheffield Wednesday as the Owls won the tie 1-0 in the Premier League in the 1999/00 season.

Chelsea’s form has not been so good in recent time and they have been struggling across all competition but they have been able to hold on in the Carabao Cup after surviving a scare from Tottenham Hotspur following a 1-0 defeat in the first leg but crawled into the final after they defeated Spurs 2-1 and on 2-2 aggregate and advanced to the finals on penalty shoot-out.

In their last five games, they have three wins and two losses.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY:

Steve Bruce’s team is enduring a very poor campaign in the Championship and their last five games, they only have two wins one draw and two losses going into the game against Chelsea.
