chelsea vs tottheham hotspur preview

Premier league title chasers Chelsea and Tottenham are set to battle it out on who to make it the FA cup final at the Wembley on Saturday.

The impact of the clash might not have direct influence on the premier league table, the winner could only gain momentum going into the final run in the remaining premier league fixtures.

Considering the form of Tottenham hotspur, spurs could be considered the favourite for the Saturday’s game. Reason because Mauricio pochettino’s side have won eight consecutive matches, including last weekend’s 4-0 win over Bournemouth and the way they made things simple on the field of play is classy. The 4-0 win against Bournemouth is the side’s second consecutive 4-0 win.

While Chelsea has suffered two defeats in four matches, the most recent is the defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Although Chelsea still enjoys a four-point lead over spurs with six matches remaining in the premiership.

Spurs qualified for the semifinal with a 6-0 win over Millwall in the previous round while Chelsea had to see off Mourinho’s men with a 1-0 win at the Stamford Bridge.

Prior to the Saturday’s game Spurs has not face any premier league opposition in the competition, having previously faced Aston Villa, Wycombe and Fulham.

Chelsea might be on the merit side considering poor form of Tottenham at the Wembley stadium. Spurs used the stadium for their home matches in Europe this season but have severely underperformed at the Stadium. Spurs have just won one of their last eight home matches in all competition at the stadium.

Considering the teams last meetings, they have met twice this season which are November and January. Chelsea won when they met in Stamford Bridge in November by defeating Spurs 2-1 and in January at the white Hart Lane Spurs won 2-0.

The injury to both teams are minimal as the duo of Marcus Alonso and Thiabout Courtois are expected to be alright for the game. Courtois missed out at Old Trafford due to an ankle injury and Alonso picked up a bug that also kept him off the Old Trafford game.

Danny Rose remains sidelined for Spurs. Pochettino hopes he is fit and be available for pick for the upcoming London derby.

Micheal Vorm joins Harry Winks and Erik Lamela on the sidelines for the rest of the season.

Game prediction: I go with a Tottenham win over Chelsea both expecting a Chelsea to score any.

Spurs 2 the Blues 1.
