Chelsea weakness revealed by Rio Ferdinard

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has revealed Chelsea weakness this season despite their shining start in the UEFA Champions League campaign.

Chelsea defeated Qarabag 6-0 in their Champions League opener at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.

Ferdinand believes that Chelsea is the English clubs’ best hope of winning the Champions League this season.

The Blues have a rough start to the season after they lost to Arsenal in the Community Shield and were defeated by Burnley in their Premier League opener.

Antonio Conte’s men have found their feet and the Blues have secured maximum points from the game against Tottenham, Everton and Leicester City in the Premier League to move them up to third place in the table.

Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand is of the opinion that Chelsea look like a very well-balanced team, but feels that their lack of quality throughout the squad could be their only weakness this term.

Ferdinand said on BT Sport on Tuesday night: “Their strength in depth is the only Achilles’ heel I find in the team.

“I find that they’re very well balanced. The manager drills the team daily on tactics. In that sense, I think Chelsea is the best hope in the Champions League of the English teams.

“You can see deficiencies within the other teams’ squads. The Chelsea team is very well rounded.”

Chelsea return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon with a crunch clash against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

Arsenal has gotten the better side of the Blues in their recent meetings in the FA Cup final and Community Shield, both at Wembley.

Chelsea, though, won the last Premier League meeting 3-1 at Stamford Bridge last season.
