Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has aimed to make a 29-year-old his second signing in January as he is set to rival both Manchester teams for want-away Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

The Italian tactician has expressed his desire to see Sanchez play for the Stamford Bridge outfit and has urged the board to sign him.

Sanchez has been continuously linked away from Arsenal after he refused to sign a contract extension with the Gunners and he is in the last year of his current deal, Arsenal would like to cash in on him to recoup some cash instead of letting him walk away for free in the summer window.

Chelsea has been linked with a move for Sanchez and the Chilean international is not short of offers from Premier League big boys this month.

And Conte has hinted that he would like to see Chelsea make a move to sign Sanchez this month as they speculate about the forward’s future rumbles on.

Speaking at his news conference at Chelsea’s Cobham training base on Friday, Conte said: “I think it is a good investment.

“We are talking about a top player and you can buy him for a price not so high. The amount is around £20m. Maybe a normal price for Alexis Sanchez is €80-90m. This is my opinion.”
