Copa del Rey draws: 'Minnows' escape Ronaldo and Messi

The Copa del Rey round of 16 draws produced some mouth-watering prospects as many top sides were paired against each other while lower sides escaped facing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo's Real Madrid and Lionel Messi's Barcelona.

2014 winners Real Madrid will face last term's finalist Sevilla in the Copa del Rey last sixteen following the draw made at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas, Madrid.

The first leg will be played at the Santiago Bernabéu on Wednesday 4th January. The return leg will be played at the Sánchez Pizjuán on Thursday 12th January.

For Barcelona, there will be a repeat of the 2015 final as the back-to-back champions take on Athletic Club Bilbao.

In other big ties, Valencia and Celta Vigo will clash while there's another a top five battle between Real Sociedad and Villarreal.

2013 winners Atletico Madrid also were drawn against Las Palmas, while the two only remaining Segunda teams Alcorcon and Cordoba  will meet.

Elsewhere, Eibar will take on Osasuna while Deportivo La Coruna will face Alaves.
