Atletico Madrid crashed out of the Copa Del Rey as Real Madrid and Sevilla avoid upset in the Spanish Cup competition.

Antoine Griezman came in from the bench in the second half to help Atletico Madrid turn the game around following a perfect understanding between him and Angel Correa and he even scored a goal to give the Rojiblancos a 3-2 lead at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Girona never gave up as they are aware of the fact that a goal will see them qualify for the next round of the competition after the first leg ended in 1-1 draw.

Seydou Doumbia’s effort found the right angle to get into the net in the 88th minute as the tie ended in 3-3 and on an aggregate 4-4 draw.

Girona qualified to the quarterfinals on away goal rule.

The other games of the night saw Real Madrid and Sevilla suffered defeat to Leganes and Athletic Bilbao respectively but their first leg victories were enough to see them through to the quarterfinals.

Leganes scored the only goal of the game in the first half through Martin Braithwaite but Real Madrid did enough to blow away a-3-goal first-leg advantage.

The game against Leganes saw Isco starting for the Los Blancos and the Real Madrid magician struggled to show any glimpse of good form as he struggled before he was eventually substituted in the 68th minute.

Sevilla also suffered a 1-0 defeat against a resurgent Bilbao but Sevilla first leg 3-1 win helped the Sanchez Pizjuan team to progress to the next round of the competition on 3-2 aggregate.

Sevilla will face Real Madrid in their La Liga match on Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
