Croatian defender Dejan Lovren relishing a chance to lock horns with nemesis and England striker Harry Kane when the two sides meet in the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-finals at Luzhniki Stadium.

The 29-year-old Liverpool star and Tottenham Hotspurs goal poacher set to meet again in Moscow on Wednesday, less than nine months after Lovern was substituted in the first half as the North London outfit humble 4-1 the Merseyside club Wembley in the Premier League.

The Three Lions forward Kane is the leading goalscorer the tournament in Russia with six goals and Lovren bounced back from that low point in his season, as he would go on to pair with Virgil Van Dijk in the centre of a Liverpool defence that went to the Champions League final.

Lovren has started all Croatia's matches 2018 FIFA World Cup in their semi-final run except Iceland encounter in Group D last tie and former Lyon Southampton star faced with the difficult task of matching up against Kane once more.

Lovren said he enjoyed taking on the world's best as he looks to showcase his talent on a huge stage and the centre-back told UK newspapers.

"He's one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

"He deserves every credit he gets. In the last few seasons he's always scored more than 25 goals and he's one of the best strikers in the world.

"But I like to challenge these strikers and to show to everyone that I'm one of the best defenders."

Croatia have needed penalty shoot-outs to overcome Denmark and Russia in the knockout stage.
