Nigerian billionaire Aliko Dangote has confirmed to buy Premier League giant Arsenal next season.

The 62-year-old continues to hold the number one position in African for the eight-time after surpassing Saudi-Ethiopian billionaire Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi in 2013.

Dangote owns nearly 85% of the publicly-traded Dangote Cement through a holding company where he also owns stakes in publicly-traded salt, sugar, and flour manufacturing companies

The business mogul has altered his plans, amid a holdup with his Dangote Refinery project speak in an interview on the David Rubenstein Show in America, he said: "It is a team that yes I would like to buy someday.

"But what I keep saying is we have $20billion worth of projects and that’s what I really want to concentrate on. I’m trying to finish building the company and then after we finish, maybe sometime in 2021 we can.

"I’m not buying Arsenal right now, I’m buying Arsenal when I finish all these projects because I’m trying to take the company to the next level.”

Arsenal are currently owned by Stan Kroenke, through his Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group, with the American having come in for widespread criticism in recent years.
