Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is rubbing it in on Real Madrid after scoring a brace to help his side to a famous 3-1 win over the European champions.
The England international found the back of the net twice, as Tottenham humbled mighty Real Madrid and he has now warned their rivals that Spurs are determined to join Europe’s elite.
“It was a fantastic display by us. We knew if we stuck to our game plan and were solid at back then we’d get chances.
“We’re very happy. I wasn’t surprised we were dominant.
“We don’t want to just compete with these teams, we want to beat them. I’m happy to get two goals but more importantly it was a win.”
He team-mate Christian Eriksen added: “We played a professional game. If we had more composure we could have got more. We take this on to the next stage. We’re happy to be through.”
Harry Kane’s brilliant through ball released Eriksen in a stunning counter attack which brought the whole crowd of 83,782 to its feet.
It was a night that Tottenham will never forget as Mauricio Pochettino’s men produced a victory to make the rest of Europe sit up and take notice.
It puts Tottenham into the knock-out stages from a Group which looked tough with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund - but they have made light work of their European opponents.
