Done deal: Arsenal land another summer transfer target

Arsenal have completed the signing of young Irish striker Jordan McEneff on two-year deal after impressing coaches on trial.

McEneff becomes the first Irish player to sign for Arsenal since Anthony Stokes who left the club in 2007 without an appearance.

McEneff was scoring goals at Irish side Coleraine before Steve Morrow, Arsenal’s head of recruitment, recommended the forward to boss Arsene Wenger.

And now he has aspirations to rise to the very top and play for the first-team. He told the Coleraine Times as per SunSports: “I’ve settled in really well in London.

“I know all the boys at the digs from coming over this past couple of years. When you’re at Arsenal it’s obviously the aim to one day play for the first team.

“So I’m playing for the next contract and hopefully I can get a bigger and better one and then move on through the ranks – up to the U23s and then on to the first team some day. It’s exciting. Especially when people back home are so supportive.”
