Los Blancos has signed Lyon full back Ferland Mendy in a bid to provide competition for Marcelo who has been the undisputed Real Madrid left-back over nine years.
Real Madrid coughed out €48 million with €5 million add ons for the French defender who is Zinedine Zidane preferred left back to deputise Marcelo or better still to dislodge the Brazilian from the starting lineup.

Mendy was impressive last season with Ligue 1 outfit Lyon, his arrival means that some left-backs will have to leave, as Real Madrid already have Sergio Reguilon, and Theo Hernandez.
Real Madrid might wait on the decision of Marcelo before they take any action on their left full backs, Reguilon had a brilliant season with Real Madrid under Santiago Solari but the appointment of Zidane in the later stage of the season saw the academy player reduced to a bench role.
If Marcelo decides to stay Reguilon might be loaned out but if the Brazilian decides to move on the young Spanish defender will be Mendy’s back up at Real Madrid.
