David Alaba scored the last goal for Bayern Munich as they showed class on Saturday; beating Borussia Dortmund 1-3 away from home.

Arjen Robben and Robert Lewandowski gave the Bavarians a 2-0 halftime lead before Alaba ensured that the points were effectively sealed with his 67th-minute strike.

Though Marc Bartra pulled one back for Dortmund in the 88th minute, it was too little too late as the Bavarians took all three points and effectively extend their lead on the log to four points.

After a  spell of intense pressure from the visitors, it culminated in the opening goal when James teed up Robben to open the scoring on 17 minutes with a trademark left-foot finish.

The visitors had the game under control for a spell and always looked dangerous attacking at speed through Coman and James, but BVB keeper Roman Bürki twice reacted sharply to deny Lewandowski.

Lewandowski finally got on the scorers' sheet in 37th minute with a backheel from Kimmich’s cross that deflected off Weigl on its way past Bürki.

Second half

The second half opened with a bang as Bürki somehow kept out Lewandowski’s point-blank header from Robben’s inviting cross, before Alaba scrambled away Yarmolenko’s goalbound effort after the pacy Pulisic’s darting run.

Alaba went one better in the 67th minute with his side’s third to effectively put the game to bed.

While Dortmund pulled one back, Bayern got all three points with the 3-1 win.
